Arthur Ted Powell is a British-born landscape/cityscape artist, printmaker, urban sketcher and advertising art director living in Melbourne Australia. He studied fine art and advertising design at Ealing Art College in London. He has lived and painted in major cities around the world. His adopted hometown Melbourne and the interior of Australia, affectionately called the ‘outback’, are major themes in his work. His work weaves cartography, geography, topography, art and history together, and embodies a particular way of seeing and thinking about place. Installation and portraiture are included in his oeuvre.

Powell’s work is held in public and private collections in the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, China, Singapore, Taiwan, South Africa, Germany, Greece and Japan. Paintings, drawings and prints hang on walls in some of the world’s great cities, including Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Singapore, London, Shanghai, Bangkok, Tokyo, Athens, Cologne, New York, Los Angeles, Detroit, Amsterdam, Johannesburg, Hong Kong and Taipei.
